Environmental Protection Regulations


It is the duty for all who work at COTEMAR and anyone at our facilities to comply with the policies established for environmental protection and pollution prevention be it at our onshore facilities or at any or all offshore operative maritime units.


All activities are consistent with our Quality, Safety, & Health and Environmental Protection Policy, in order to prevent, mitigate, and reduce environmental impact.


All  materials or residual substances with corrosive, reactive, explosive, toxic, flammable, biological-infectious (feature CRETIB) or radioactive properties should  be placed in suitable containers and sites and labeled, in compliance with regulations.


It is prohibited to discharge wastewater into the sea, lagoon, soil, or subsoil without  the authorization and appropriate treatment in compliance with the permitted limits of applicable regulations.


It is prohibited to throw or intentionally release any and all types of waste into the sea, rivers, soils, or atmosphere.


It is prohibited to dump any type of waste into the sea without having first completed the necessary procedures for the registration and analysis of the substance.


It is strictly prohibited to defecate or urinate in the sea or in any other body of water.


It is strictly prohibited to  fish, catch, trade, or be involved in any other similar activity with any aquatic or terrestrial organism while at COTEMAR´s operating units and facilities.


The cleaning of any material contaminated with oils or any other chemical substance or hydrocarbons, shall be performed at sites equipped with designated drainage for these and any other type of waste containments.  It is prohibited to discharge waste into sewage systems or the sea without proper pretreatment.


In the event of a spill of any polluting material or product on board, it shall be reported the to captain of the vessel, following the proper contingency measures and containment actions; notification to the operational areas and the Seguridad y Protección Ambiental.


At onshore facilities, in the event of a spill of a polluting product,  the responsible departments shall be notified and the proper contingency measures and emergency protocols COTEMAR has established shall be carried out,avoiding contamination of soil, subsoil, or bodies of water; the operational areas and Seguridad y Protección Ambiental shall be made aware.


In the event that it is necessary to perform any activities in critical areas of environmental vulnerability, whether at sea or on land, the required legal authorizations and mitigation measures prior the start of constructions and activities shall be considered.
